Hiker Heather

Heather has been a fan of hills, hiking and HARVEY Maps for a very long time! Her passion for the outdoors is clear to see and she is an excellent role model for anyone hoping to add more adventure to their hikes and holidays and reconnect to nature and the outdoors. We are delighted to be working with Heather.

Heather is a solo adventurer, currently based in West Yorkshire. She is also a successful lawyer, having dedicated nearly 20 years to the legal profession, however, her dream is to one day pursue a career in the outdoor industry, which is where her true passion lies.

Heather continues to work hard in the background to one day make her dream her reality and as a trainee Mountain Leader, she hopes to be able to offer guided hikes, thru-hikes, companionship and mountain days in the near future. Heather discovered the outdoors at a very young age, having being brought up in the Peak District until the age of 11, where she spent most of her time outside. The outdoors is where Heather feels the most genuine joy and happiness, and is where she can truly be herself, free from pressure and judgement.

Heather's connection with Mother Nature goes beyond a simple hobby or even passion, and her decision to dedicate her entire life and being to the outdoors & Mother Nature is testament to this.

Heather is passionate about the benefits that the outdoors has to offer to our physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and she is a firm believer that each of us requires a connection to nature, something which for most people, has been lost in a world of technology, social media and Netflix.

Heather is particularly drawn to long-distance trails and thru-hikes and has hiked many of the UK's long-distance trails including the Cape Wrath Trail, West Highland Way (twice), Great Glen Way, Cumbria Way, Cotswold Way, South Downs Way, East Highland Way as well as some international trails too!

She is particularly drawn to the simplicity of life on the trail and to spending prolonged periods in nature, living self-sufficiently out of her backpack. This allows her to disconnect completely from society, to escape the humdrum of 'normal life' and to find solitude in the most beautiful of places.

Heather often undertakes these huge endeavours on a solo basis and hopes to encourage and inspire others to do the same. Follow her adventures on her Instagram page.

My favourite HARVEY map is ...
"This would have to be the HARVEY Cape Wrath Trail North & South maps. The Cape Wrath Trail has my heart and was my most memorable trail to date, I hope to hike it again in the future!"
